Swimming - Round Lake is one of the larger, deeper, freshwater lakes in the region. The Blanche river system enters the lake about 1 km to the west of the cottage property. The Blanche exits Round Lake on the south shore opposite our cottages. McChesney Northshore Acres has a lovely, granite sand beach that makes, swimming and water sports highly enjoyable. This is a private beach and all yours to explore and appreciate. For swimming we have a sandy bottom walk out that gradually deepens for a stretch of about 50m before it drops off more considerably. This shallower sandy bottom warms up in the sun over the course of the day and our younger guests could often happily play in the water all day. There is a small dock for those who like to dip a toe in the water first and the leeches you might find in other neighbouring lakes are not a problem here.
Fishing - Our large granite point offers a great spot for casting into Round Lake and many a perch, Northern pike and pickerel have been caught in this fashion. Where the Blanche river enters Round Lake has been known to be good for catching bass. There is a bridge on Rosegrove Road approx. 1 km to the left of the cottage road entrance that offers a great spot for casting into the river for fish.
Boating - If you have a canoe, kayak, or 6-10 foot smaller boat you could get your boat into the lake through the gradual incline down to the beach from the wider trail in front of cottage 3 by carrying it down carefully. For larger, heavier boats there is a boat launch by the Blanche River Bridge 1 km to the west of the cottage entrance road on Rosegrove Road. There is also a concrete boat launch on the south shore of  Round Lake accessible from Hwy 112 onto Swan's cove road and then Conklin Road. Please ensure you adhere to water safety guidelines and boat safely.
Campfires and Stargazing - On site just off the beach we have a large granite beach that is the perfect spot for a campfire and some stargazing. The rock itself seems to have carved itself into natural seating for warming up by the fire, making S'mores or roasting some hot dogs. Bring down a lawn chair or enjoy some already on site. There are stacks of fire wood by the fire pit as well as additional supplies at the top of the trail to head down to the point in front of Cottage #6. Building a campfire is a skill everyone should learn -here is a link from Smokey Bear to learn how to do it right. Please remember to tip the fire girl (4th generation McChesney) $1 CAD for each log used on the fire. She appreciates it :)
